Christmas 2009.

Christmas this year was different. I didn't get to spend it with my cousins and relatives like how we always do because this year, there was a harvest party at one of the church member's house.
It's so difficult trying to fix a time where all the cousins get to hang out together because everybody has their own plans, some will be flying overseas soon, dates clashing and what not. I miss the old times :(

So anyway, we had our Christmas service on Christmas Eve at the Sime Darby Convention Centre this year and it was pretty awesome I must say. Many performances were presented to keep us entertained, and I was especially amused by the Africans who belted out many catchy tunes. They were totally amazing!

Mamak session after the service.

Pictures below are taken on Christmas day in no particular order because Blogger is being stupid and it's so difficult to arrange the pictures.

Too many cute kids that night! Plus they love the camera more than I do, so why not take the advantage and pose with them? Hehe.

See what I mean!

Shoulder sits!

Mini elevator :)

Wahahahah. I'm a giant.

Sher Yen took this picture of me while Uncle Kevin was sharing the word.

Siblings - Sher Li and Sher Yen.

Cute Cheryl!

Hahahah!

Jayden, who is of mixed parentage.

No prize for guessing who is he trying to impersonate.
Next update will be about the Temerloh wedding and Tambun trip. Two more days till we usher into the New Year!!

God Bless!!

PS. Sorority Life on FB has the funniest quotes. I was picking my fortune cookie and it read, 'Laugh: the world laughs with you, Cry: your mascara runs'. Funny or what!

Poppinnnnnn.

Sorry for the lack of updates and the weird title. I've been facing the laptop for almost the whole day now, I need to get my assignments done ASAP.

Anyway, just popping by to wish you all...

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

May 2010 be a better year for you and I =)

For those who cares.

Hey :)

Okay, just a short one. Firstly, I wanna thank those who have voted for me. Unfortunately, there won't be any more of me in the contest. Haha, yup. Eliminated.

Few have asked me, WHAT HAPPENED?

Simple la, not enough votes. Duh.

Anyways, it was a good experience so I'm not complaining. Besides, I got pretty tired asking friends to vote. Trust me, I think asking for votes was even more difficult than posing in front of the camera! Hahah. So I don't think I can continue even if I wanted to.

Just thought of informing you all this piece of news. Heh.

Oh and more thing, don't feel sorry for me. I'm totally fine! Lol.

HAHAHA, and check this out..Try linking my story above with this picture.

Can't agree any further! :D

Don't write me off just yet.

Or somewhere along that line which could be found in the movie 2012. It was very touching, but I didn't tear at all. *proud

No Internet for the past few days was extremely tough to handle! Especially during the period when I needed it most because of my piling assignments. Thank God it's back now. *Angels cry Hallelujahhhhh!!!* Hopefully the connection is stable and won't be a pain in the butt again.

Had my third photoshoot last Friday in some studio somewhere at Puchong. Make-up was by far the heaviest and most dramatic one I've had ever. (Continue voting pretty please.. I would really appreciate it)

Got some ANTM Cycle 13 catching up to do as well. Last episode!!

Very tempted to watch that new TVB drama series (Beyond the Realm of Conscience) but that will have to wait until I'm done with my work because it seems really addictive judging by the rate the females in my family are watching it now. Note to self: Do not fall into temptation!!

Ulcer on tongue is totally torturing! I want some cooling dessert to soothe the pain. *Gonna bug parents soon*

I'm hoping my sem break will arrive soon because I want to get rid of my assignments ASAP. (See! it's happening already, I remember complaining about having too long a break, now I want it so bad!) Won't be enjoying summer break next year, will have to do internship. *GASP!* WHY!!!

That's all!

Buhhhhbyee.

Weekend's here.

Hi friends!

Just thought of showing you guys the magazine spread which I'm in if you haven't seen it yet. After all, it's only polite to show the end product of what you guys are voting for. Hehe. (If you did not vote, vote now cos you are already seeing the pictures. Hahaha lame threat)

Vivien was so helpful in helping me scan these pages for me. =)

October issue.

November issue.

I prefer the pictures in the November issue although both issues still never fail to make me laugh when I see myself in it because it's just too funny.

Please continue to support me!

Alright, gotta scoot. Gonna spend some quality family time by playing badminton. Till then, take care everybody! Enjoy your weekend!!

Merci beaucoup!

Hello people,

Today I bring you good news. You've probably guessed what I wanna say..

I am through to the next round! Hehe. Thank you so much for your votes!! =)

To be honest, when I read the e-mail, I was somehow expecting to see myself getting eliminated. Praise the Lord for keeping me in this contest!

Voting has already resumed and the second issue of magazine is already out (though I've not seen it yet).

Do take note that the votes are accumulated so I'm sorry I have to repeat this again, every SINGLE vote counts!

Text MODV FLO to 36660.

Must watch!

This is too funny!

I bet by now everybody has heard about the infamous video of Miss Singapore World 2009 Ris Low and her fantastic English.

Watch this if you've no clue about what I'm talking about.

And as if that wasn't funny enough to tickle your funny bones, watch Phua Chu Kang's take on mimicking Ris Low.

I laughed so hard I teared! HAHAH!

To eat or not to eat?

I've got a serious question to ask...

Say you have this favourite stall which you always frequent to either tapau or eat there. Then one day while you were driving by that place, you see that uncle of the stall lepaking while digging his teeth. (not too sure was it with bare hands or with toothpick.) Either way, you get my point.

Will you still patronise that favourite stall of yours after that disturbing scenario? (but you really really like the food!)

So how now?

Talian telah ditutup.

Voting line is now closed. Thanks to those who voted.

We'll see how things go.

As for now, I'm hoping to complete my assignment soon. Speaking of which, I don't get why Dad is making a fuss about me going out on weekdays.

Hasn't he heard about the saying, 'All work and no play makes Jack (or any Tom, Dick & Harry) a dull boy'? And this isn't even about playing! It's about keeping fit physically. Good form of stress reliever! So what's the negative side about that? As long as I'm able to cope academically, I don't see any problems.

Okay enough la. Later he reads this then he'll say why I like to announce things to the whole world. Back to assignment. Toodles!

Sorry, time to promote again.

Hello people who loves me,

Yours truly is currently going through a panic phase now. I messaged the person in charge on FB regarding my vote ranking in Modelle because she has informed me earlier that I could check my status anytime.

I've asked her once before this and she told me I was somewhere in the middle..

But the reply today didn't bring good news. At 11:35am, she said I'm somewhere in the middle still. At 11:36am, she apologized for the mistake saying I'm somewhere going into top 15. At 11:43am, she said I'm currently at number 40! What?!?

I'm extremely shocked at how much difference my position can fall in less than 10 minutes!

So, continue spamming the votes people :)

I also just found out that the votes are accumulated after each round, meaning the votes will not be cleared off so every single vote counts!

Your support is much appreciated!

Why punctuation marks are so important.

Or in this matter, why is sentence structure important.

I'm not saying I construct proper sentences everytime. In fact, I think I tend to make quite a number of mistakes occasionally.

Anyway, I received a text message from my Marketing Management lecturer this afternoon.

"Tis is Dr Joanne. I had emergncy surgery operatn last wk. In hospital. Pls cal me Florence asap."

Okay, Dr Joanne...since you asked...

FLORENCE!!!!!

Hehe! Okay I know I'm lame. Whatever. =)

Second issue of Modelle Mag.

Second MODELLE photoshoot pictures are up on the FB group!

This time, my theme was Rock Chic and the shoot was held at Maison, KL. The whole process was quick and fun! We started around 11am and were done by 2pm! So efficient this round, me likey. Different style of hair and makeup again...which girl doesn't like getting dolled up, eh? Photographer and team were really nice people too! :)
I don't think I'm gonna post the picture here though..Worried about those copyright infringement and what not..so I'd rather play it safe and link you guys to the page.

Nah, here's a goofy picture of myself instead :p

To view the second batch of photos, click! To keep me in this competition, you know what to do ;)

This batch of photos will be published in the November issue so keep a look out for that!

Alzheimer & HIV

If you're having the Monday blues, here's a lil' something to brighten up your day!

The phone rings and the lady of the house answers, 'Hello.'

'Mrs. Sanders, please.'

'Speaking.'

'Mrs. Sanders, this is Doctor James at Saint Agnes Laboratory. When your husband's doctor sent his biopsy to the lab last week, a biopsy from another Mr. Sanders arrived as well. We are now uncertain which one belongs to your husband. Frankly, either way the results are not too good.'

'What do you mean?' Mrs. Sanders asks nervously.

'Well, one of the specimens tested positive for Alzheimer's and the other one tested positive for HIV. We can't tell which is which.'

'That's dreadful! Can you do the test again?' questioned Mrs. Sanders..

'Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests once and once only.'

'Well, what am I supposed to do now?'

'The folks at Medicare recommend that you drop your husband off somewhere in the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don't sleep with him.'

HAHAHA.

Now that I've bribed you with a joke,

Don't forget to text MODV FLO and send to 36660. Thanks! :)

The vain side of me.

Skip this entry if you don't wanna view my vain pictures. Hehe.

Since the hair and makeup are done by professionals, this can only mean in my dictionary that it is time to snap some self-absorbed pictures.

How to discipline a child?

Today's lunch was spent with Pastor Mark and Aunty Rose. :)
After landing our buttocks on the seats in the Yong Tau Foo restaurant which Daddy promptly decided to go to, we only found out then that Ps Mark does not really fancy Yong Tau Foo. Oops. That aside, it was still a good time of fellowship.

On another note, I went to Summit with my sister and mummy because the older one wanted to get more clothes which serves as her working attire. As we were walking around in the shops, suddenly I heard a loud voice shouting so loud that I'm pretty sure the people in the shops surrounding the scene were able to hear it.

Naturally, (note that I used the word naturally instead of 'kepoh') we turned our heads to have a look at what's all that fuss about.

Okay, so I don't know what really happened. But from what we saw, the loud voice came from a mother yelling at her son who is probably around 7-8 years old. I think I even saw her dragging the son for a bit.

I just find the whole scene so disturbing. The mother was literally yelling like a maniac. I would excuse someone for yelling like that only when that person is being assaulted, which in this case was obviously not happening. Oh, and the worse part was right after the mother had her fit, she stormed off the place leaving the kid behind. Then, the shop owner had to console the kid while making a phone call. (I cannot understand the whole scene entirely but this is based on what I saw)

I may not be a parent yet but I definitely think that no matter how bad your kid is misbehaving, you should settle it at home and not yell at the poor boy in public. That will just result in pure embarrassment for both the mother and son. Common sense right?

I will not be surprised if the kid grows up having a grudge against his own mother or worse still, treat his future kids the same way like how he was treated before.

Sad! Although I've had my fair share of experiencing the strokes of canes (I don't remember being a rebellious child hahah), it was never done in public. I am glad that I'm not scarred with a memory like that poor boy. Hopefully, he will forget about this incident someday.

Overdue post.

I just realised I have not blogged about my 21st birthday yet.

Been waiting for the pictures from Ms Tan yet I still haven't managed to get my hands on them.

Anyways, I've uploaded an album about the event on Facebook so do check it out if you're curious. ;)

Modelle Beauty 50.

Hey all :)

I guess the title probably caught your attention huh? Okay, let me just introduce you to what Modelle is all about before I continue further. Modelle basically means model in French and it is a magazine which primarily focuses on fashion and lifestyle. Apart from that, a modelling competition called Beauty 50 will be ongoing at the same time. Yeap, it's all happening in print which also mean that this competition is not your typical reality series or whatsoever.

So what exactly is the purpose of this competition?

"Created with 2 aims in mind - to pave way for fresh and undiscovered next door beauties to become Malaysia's next top models and also give to commercial faces a run off their money in modelling industry, this contest will see 50 inexperienced girls transformed from mere and unnoticed girl-next-door into glamorous future faces of fashion."

Here's the hilarious part. Are you ready for it?

Yes, you've probably guessed it. Yours truly is one of the 50 girls. I'm giving you 30 seconds to laugh all you want.

Okay, you may stop laughing now.

No, seriously. Stop.

I know right? It's so unbelievable. Who would have thought that I would get myself into this? It was all such a spontaneous thing. I came across this page and then I just submitted my entry right there and then. That very day itself, Sabrina called me up to ask me to go for a short interview (but I ended up fixing an appointment on the next day because I was actually sleeping when she called me HAHAHA) and it all started from there.

Anyway, I already went for my first ever photoshoot sometime during August and my theme was Greeco-Roman. The location was at Gua Damai (a spot catered for rock climbers), Batu Caves. The shoot took the entire day. When I say the entire day, I actually mean from sunrise to sunset! Most of the time taken was waiting for the other girls to finish their shoot.

Wanna see the pictures on set? I didn't bring my own camera that day so I am gonna steal some pictures from the other girls' FB and post it here. Hehehe. *Thanks girls!*
The location which required us to climb up those stairs. Climbing up the stairs itself was already a challenge. LOL.I think you can pretty much see how steep it is from this angle.

Me getting my makeup done.

Grace and I.
The hairstylist fixing Vivien's hair.

This is Sabrina. The one who totally took care of us the entire time. :)
Group picture. From left: Nurul, Vivien, Grace, Mun Yee, Me.

We were the first batch for the shoot on the first day for the whole of Beauty 50. Geddit? Hehe.
On the way home after an exhausting day.

Despite the long wait, it was an extremely great experience (and hopefully more to come!). I'm crossing my fingers that the pictures will turn out good.
*Turns on shameless mode* The magazine's inaugural issue is set to launch on the first week of October so get your copies and please vote for me! :)

Why do you think I need to blog about this if it's not a voting-based competition? This competition will be ongoing for about six months and each month a bunch of girls will get eliminated until someone wins the title of Modelle's People Choice Model.

My stay in this competition depends on you all! :) *Turns off shameless mode*

Raya at Cameron Highlands.

Like I mentioned before, the family and relatives spent our Raya holidays at Cameron Highlands. Sounds like a relaxing trip, eh?

Wrong. The whole journey to Camerons was completely disrupted by a massive jam. It's like everyone was headed to Camerons as well.

True enough, when we reached there, the traffic jam didn't end. I didn't know Cameron Highlands was such a hit among the locals.

I think the traffic jam helped me to sit back and pay attention to the greenery of Camerons even more. I was truly enjoying God's awesome creations.

However, don't get me started on the hotel/apartment we stayed in for the two nights we were there. I don't know who fed me with the information that the place we were gonna stay in was a 4-stars hotel. 4-stars?! Are you kidding me?
Look at the number of thumbs down and you will understand what is it like inside there.

Hot water which only runs for less than 10 minutes and cracked toilet seats are among the things we faced during our stay. If it's the one thing I cannot stand about hotels, it is the cleanliness of the toilet! I will not complain if you provide me a hard pillow. But the toilet is very very important to me! Showering with cold water in the cold weather is not my idea of a nice shower. *Brrrr*

Do NOT stay there if you were to visit Cameron Highlands. It's called Star Regency. (Note the word Star. Meaning they only have ONE star at the most. Hehe)
Look at the amount of cars. A bee line was surely to appear wherever we went.

Look! Conjoined flowers!

Strawberry in many forms of food!

The food was absolutely delicious especially the yoghurt with fresh strawberries and honey. =)

Hello Mark! I see your cheeky tongue. =p

Strawberry potong which costs RM 1.
Adrian trying really hard to open a durian. Haha.
Some really sweet tasting melon (not sure if it was some sort of honeydew) which costs RM 5 per fruit.

Daddy and I.

Fooling around with the pole. =p

Even the flower at any random playground in Camerons is much nicer than here.

Us at the tea plantation area.

Fact of the day: Did you know that Florence is an absolute lousy traveller especially on winding roads? I was on the verge of puking on the way downhill. Thank God I managed to keep myself composed after taking in many deep breaths when Daddy made an "emergency" stop at the side of the road. Hehehe. So in the end, I did not throw up! Yay me!! Woohoo.

PS. Credits to Ms Tan Sue Vern for the DSLR photos. The clear ones are taken by her and the rest are taken by the lousy camera. Easy to distinguish right? =)
